Zoning and Building Permits are required in the Village of Durand, Contact Village Hall to inquire if permits are required for your project.

Here is an architects rendition of what the Center St. Square could look like in the near future. Building upgrades, with awnings, new sidewalks, lighting, streets and crosswalks along with a decorative railing could be the future look of the downtown area. All of this and more will be among the topics at the five MAPPING sessions that begin Feb. 5 and run each Tuesday through March 12 (except March 5). Over 70 residents have signed up to attend the meetings.

Leaf Burning allowed during October/November and April/May

The burning of "dry" leaves, brush, paper* or paper goods* are ONLY allowed in the Village of Durand during the months of Oct. and Nov. and again in April and May. Burning is allowed only during daylight hours. No grass clippings or anything that gives off offensive odor can be burned!

Village residents may also bring leaves, grass, small branches and brush to the village's sewer lagoon during normal business hours throughout the yEAR. Please place your brush as far to the rear of the cement gathering pit as possible.

*Paper and paper goods may be burned year round, but only in a burn barrel of solid construction.


The Village's Snow Ordinance is in force with any snowfall over 2 inches. Vehicles parked on village streets must observe the odd/even parking ordinance. Overnight parking in the Center St. Square area is prohibited during that time.
